This gaming keyboard will tag-team with compatible Roccat mice, enhancing gameplay and offering an immersive experience.
On Monday Roccat launched the Isku FX gaming keyboard, a massive high-performance peripheral featuring the company's Roccat Talk technology and a new, multicolor lighting system for the ultimate in customization. The Isku FX is expected to hit store shelves nationwide this week for a suggested retail price of $99.99.
Slated as "MMO Approved," this new gaming keyboard features an extra-large wrist rest, blue key illumination with six brightness levels, and 36 easy-to-reach Macro keys (including 3 Roccat Thumbmaster keys on the palm rest). There's also live Macro recording thanks to a dedicated M-Rec button, and 8 configurable media and hotkeys.
That said, this is no ordinary wired keyboard for the PC. For those not acquainted with a feature-packed keyboard like the Isku FX, it can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what does what. For starters, it features five rubberized Non-Slip?Gaming Boots and two rubberized Lock-Fast Gaming Feet on the bottom, firmly securing the device to the desktop even during the most intense, out-of-your-seat gameplay moments.
One of the main features Roccat is really pushing with this device is Roccat Talk which essentially allows the keyboard to communicate with compatible mice. This exchange between peripherals makes use of "Set Bonus advantages" like the Easy-Shift[+] tech, allowing owners to use the keyboard's Easy-Shift[+] key to activate macros for both the keyboard and mouse ? a one-stop short-cut that makes giving orders quicker and easier.
"Roccat Talk also lets you use our exclusive Easy-Aim technology to perfection when playing with the Isku FX and the Kone XTD or Kone Pure," the company explains on the website. "When you need precise marksmanship in sniper mode, just press and hold a single Isku FX key and Easy-Aim will instantly optimize the DPI setting on your Kone XTD or Kone Pure. This unprecedented two-handed team marksmanship is the most convenient way ever to be the deadliest sniper in the game."
The Roccat Talk FX feature is rather interesting as well. As previously mentioned, this adds a new element to gameplay, translating on-screen game action into sensory effects on compatible devices. As an example, with the EventLighting feature, the lighting system could explode in bright red bursts when the player is smacked with a fireball in World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 or some other RPG.
"Roccat Talk FX also makes possible additional ambient lighting effects that can greatly enhance the mood and intensity of your gameplay," the company said. "Imagine running through a jungle in your favorite first-person shooter and having your gaming device emanate a dark green glow that brings that jungle feel right down to your desktop -- or swimming while your mouse glows in a shimmering ocean blue."
